Mountain Democrat (Placerville CA) September 29, 2004 Irene Larsen, 94, of Camino, died Sept. 16, 2004. She was born in Longmont, Colorado, to Vinton H. and Winnie B. Hamilton. The family moved to Camino in 1921. Irene attended the Seventh-day Adventist Church school in Camino and El Dorado High School, graduating in 1928. She received her Registered Nurse's License at St. Helena Sanitarium and Hospital, and later married Thomas H. Larsen in Camino, where they made their home. Mrs. Larsen became the first School Nurse for the El Dorado County School system. Through the years she was involved with the American Red Cross as an instructor, teaching instructors in First Aid and teaching classes in First Aid and Home Nursing. She was an active member of the Camino Seventh-day Adventist Church. In addition to homemaking duties, she helped her husband with the apple and pear ranch and family business, the "Larsen Apple Barn", which was operated in partnership with R. W. Larsen and Clarence Hansen. Her husband, Thomas H. Larsen, preceded her in death in 1969. Her children, Laurene Harvey of Camino, Harold Larsen of Modesto, Tom Larsen of Lodi, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson survive Irene. Visitation will be on Saturday, Oct. 2 at the Camino Seventh-day Adventist Church from 2-3 p.m. Services will immediately follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Craig Klatt officiating. Interment will be at the Camino Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Lodi Funeral Home, Inc.
