Civil War Union Soldier. Rank: Private. Company E, Iowa 17th Infantry. Enlisted on 05 Apr 1862. Mustered was mustered out on 19 Sep 1862 at Corinth, MS when he died of dysentery, according to U.S., Registers of Deaths of Volunteers, 1861-1865. Disease took the lives of one-third of all those who served in the Civil War. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Hester Richheart and Jacob V Headley were married Oct. 15, 1859; Decatur, County, IA. On June 9, 1864, she remarried Aaron Kennedy. One daughter, Martha Elizabeth, was born to Jacob Headley and Hester R Headley on Dec. 21, 1860.
