Funeral services for Mary Evelyn Johnson will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Sept. 17, 2004 in the First United Pentecostal Church, Oakdale, with the Reverends Darren Miller and Rodney Monk officiating. Interment will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale. Mrs. Johnson, age 89 of Oakdale, entered eternal rest Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004 in the Oakdale Community Hospital. She was born July 9, 1915 to the union of Jim and Elizabeth Monk Thigpen in Oakdale. She was a member of the First United Pentecostal Church and a homemaker. She leaves behind her loving family: her husband, Edgar Johnson of Oakdale, whom she wed in holy matrimony on Sept. 19, 1932. She shared with him 71 beautiful years and three sons, Jimmy Johnson of Oakdale, Donald and wife Tish Johnson of Lafayette and Charles Johnson of Orange, Texas; grandchildren, Tonia Johnson, Twinda Johnson and Sandra and Bruce Bushnell, all of Oakdale, Daryl Johnson of Lake Charles, Bryan and Dana Johnson of Andrews Air Force Base, Greg and Trena Johnson of Lufkin, Texas, Scott and Shannon Johnson of Nacogdoches, Texas, Donna and Mark Pekas of Denver, Colo.; and 10 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers honored to serve will be David Brown, Robbie Johnson, Kennis Jones, Robert Loman, Herbert Levron and Henry Odom. Friends may call today from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. in the First United Pentecostal Church and on Friday they may call from 10 a.m. until time of service.
