Marie Paulo was born January 13, 1854, near Spremberg, Sachsen, Germany to Hanna "Anna" Mathias b 05 Jan 1826 Lippen, Niederschlesischer Oberlausitzkreis, Sachsen, Germany d 15 Dec 1901 and Karl August Patschke b 19 Dec 1818 Germany d 24 Jun 1893 Fedor, Lee County, Texas. Her siblings wee: - Johanne Wilhelmina Paulo b 1852 d 1865 Colorado County, Texas, she was only age 13. - Carl August Patschke b 22 Jan 1858 d 05 Nov 1916 Giddings, Lee County, Texas; 06 May 1881 in Fedor, Lee County, Texas married Emma Ida Clementine Schultz b 20 Jan 1863 in Germany d 06 Nov 1927 Thorndale, Milam County, Texas. To this union was born 11 children, 3 daughters and 8 sons between Dec 1880 and about 1906. - Henrich "Henry" John Patschke b 09 Jul 1862 d 06 Apr 1947 in Fedor, Lee County, Texas, age 84, he never marred. On 13 Apr 1876 in Giddings, Lee County, Texas, Maria Paulo Patschke married Johnathan Carl August Lehman b 08 Sep 1843 in Gross Saubernitz, Sachsen, Germany, the son of Maria Anna "Emilia" Melhe b 11 May 1811 d 20 Jan 1870 and Andreas Lehmann b 01 Jul 1807 d 07 Nov 1896. In 1859, Andreas had decided to take his family to Texas due to persecution in Germany at the time. On 20 Apr 1859 he took his family and boarded the ship Iris, landing 05 Jun 1859, on Galveston Island, Galveston County, Texas, then on to Die Union, Galveston County, Texas on 09 Jun 1859. Maria's family was with another group of Wends who left Prussia, Germany so they could speak their Slavic language and practice their religion after suffering severe persecution from the King of Prussia. Marie and August first made their home in Giddings, Lee County, Texas and then built their home in Paige, Bastrop County, Texas where their son Herman Gerhardt Lehman was born at 12:30 p.m. on May 24, 1879. Herman Gerhardt married Annie Muesse and they had 5 children, one dying in infancy the rest living into adulthood; they survived her along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marie Paulo Patschke Lehman died November 5, 1916 in Giddings, Lee County, Texas and was buried in the Giddings Cemetery, alongside her husband who preceded her in death on 07 Nov 1896, just 4 years earlier,
