Obituary is from The Moulton Advertiser, 28 Mar 1873 Died -- At his son's residence, near Moulton, on the 11th of February 1873, in the 82nd year of his age, Ephraim Thompson. He was born in North Carolina, January 9, 1792 -- moved to Virginia when quite a youth and remained there until he was married. Came to Alabama shortly after Jackson's war -- settled, perhaps, in Jones' Valley about 1820 -- his wife died in 1822. Married the second time in Marshall County in 1830. He was broken up in 1846, which greatly disturbed his mind, and in 1850 went to California in search of gold. His health becoming impaired he returned home to his family in the same year. He moved to Lawrence County, where he proved to be an upright, industrious citizen -- always paid his debts and responded to the calls of the needy. He was a son of Electious Thompson. who sleeps in the soil of Morgan County, who was a Baptist minister -- served in the Revolution under Washington, and whose father was killed in General Braddock's defeat -- peace to his ashes.
