Bio

Herman Blakely was the son of William Nathaniel Blakely, a native of Alabama, and Margaret Viola "Maggie" Blair, a native of Arkansas. Herman was raised on family farms in Robertson and Scurry counties, Texas. He was a twin to Sherman Blakely and brother to James Cohen, Floyd Carroll and Merrill Elwood Blakely. Herman married Versa "Versie" Eoff, the daughter of Jonathan and Panola Beatrice Bishop, the former a native of Arkansas and the latter a native of Texas. Herman and Versie were married April 11, 1915 in Snyder, Scurry County, Texas. They were the parents of Dale, Chalmer Neal, Delbert Vinson, R. L., Cathy, Harold Wayne and Alton Blakely, born in Texas.
