Obituary for Bert Mann published in the "Dallas Morning News" on March 29, 1954. "Death Claims Bert Mann, 73 - Bert Mann, 73, a retired salesman for the Employers Casualty Company and an insurance businessman for fifty years, died Sunday in a Dallas hospital after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday in the Sparkman-Brand Funeral Chapel, 2115 Ross. The Rev. W. A. Welsh, pastor of East Dallas Christian Church, and Dr. L.N.D. Wells, former pastor of the Church, will be in charge. Burial will be in Grove Hill Memorial Park. Mann was born on Dec 3, 1880, in Windsor, Mo. He had lived in Dallas since he was seven years old. He made his home at 4826 East Side Avenue. Mann was a charter member of the John G. Slayter Bible Class and a former deacon of the East Dallas Christian Church. He was a 32 degree Mason and a member of the Tannehill Lodge. Mann is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. H.A. Schaeffer and Mrs. N.E. Anderson, and two gransons, all of Dallas. Pallbearers will be Julian F. Williams, King Lavender, J. B. Parker, E.D. Groves, Arthur Vardell and Kenneth H. Polson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the John G. Slayter Bible Class."
