Fred Prince, 72, of Springfield, formerly of New Berlin, died at 1:10 p.m Tuesday at St. John's Hospital. He was born Sept. 4, 1914, in Parnell, Ky., the son of the late Ed and Tona Parmley Prince. He served with the U.S. Army in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post 743 in New Berlin. Before his retirement in 1967, he owned and operated the Treasure Island Cafe. Preceding him in death were his parents; two grandsons; three sisters; and one brother. Surviving are four sons, James and Gary, both of Springfield, Donald of New Berlin and Michael of Loami; seven grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Louise Bryant of Sherman; two brothers, Herman of New Berlin and Floyd of Springfield; several nieces and nephews. Remains will be cremated. Memorial services at McCullough Funeral Home, New Berlin, the Rev. Morgan Davis officiating. Burial of the cremains in Woodwreath Cemetery.
