Bio

Mrs. Dorothy Sarah (Jordan) Brown went to be with her heavenly father on Thursday Oct 16, 2008. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She had a passion for gardening and canning. Her homemade pies were the best that ever touched your lips. She loved the Lord and witnessed that fact every chance she could. Her life was filled with energy and love that she shared with everyone she met. She was a remarkable lady who dearly loved her children. Dorothy married Clitis Virgil Jordan June 29, 1937. They shared 51 wonderful years of marriage and had 5 children. She married William Howard Brown April 27, 1991. They shared 17 years marriage in Teague, Texas. Born Dec. 15, 1920 to Bennie Lee Windham and Catherine Ann Owen Windham in Italy, Texas. She attended school in Slay, Texas and began work at the family owned Windhams Café for 10 years; famous for their homemade chili, stews, and burgers. Later she worked for 12 years at Hagger Slacks in Corsicana and Waxahachie, Texas. Finally retiring from Jordan's Texaco. Visitation will be Saturday, October 18, 2008 from 6:00 pm – 8:00pm at Corley Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Corley Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Steve Orbison and Mr. Larry Dickens will be officiating. Pallbearers are: Blake Capehart, Troy Patak, Earl Jordan, Vernon Jordan, Jordan Richards, and Kenneth Howard. Interment will follow at Hamilton- Beeman cemetery in Retreat, Texas. She was preceded in death by her mother: Catherine Windham, father: Bennie Lee Windham, spouse: Clitis Virgil Jordan, son: Willie Lee "Billy" Jordan, daughter-in-law: Jerry Nell Jordan, son-in-laws: Eugene Patak, and Bill Null, brothers: Lewis Windham, Frank Windham, and Ben Windham, and sister: Claudine Beauregard. She is survived be spouse: William Howard Brown, stepson: Johnny Brown and his wife Joann, son: Clitis Jordan and his wife Greta, daughters: Kathey Sherrard and her husband Bill, Brenda Null, and Darla Capehart and her husband Darrell. Dorothy had 18 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, sisters: Fay Taylor, Elnora and Earl Miles, and numerous nieces and nephews. The Family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Navarro Regional Hospital and Baylor 13 Roberts. Special thanks to the nurses and staff at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village.
