Jack Fugate 1874-1908 son of Sylvester Vaughn Fugate 1837-1919 and Phinetta McCartney 1852-1893 is buried at Lutie Cemetery, Theodosia, Missouri resting not far from his murderer, Charlie Hampton. Jack left behind his young wife Mary Ellen Henderson 1879-1947 they married at Dugginsville, Missouri on 6 Jun 1897 at the home of her parents John Wesley Henderson 1846-1905 and Lucinda Jane Payne 1852-1932. Jack and Mary had four children: George Dewey Fugate 1898-1953, Mollie Fugate-Stuck 1901-1972, Lue Cindy Fugate-Fisher 1904-1947 and Eabe Fugate 1908-1974. Siblings of Jack Fugate: at least 18... Jack Fugate was shot and killed by Charlie Hampton on the farm of Jack's best friend Ebe Long south and east of Dugginsville, Missouri. Jack's dog was running cattle that belong to Charlie Hampton. The folks around town say Charlie killed at least 7 men total before he was ambushed and shot for sending threating letters to Ebe and Sarah Long. Charlie was killed in self defence by Joe Long or Port Jones no one knows for sure but they both admit they were present when Charlie was gunned down.
