Edna wrote a family history called "Eppes, Epps, Epes Genealogy & History & Related Families" and was printed in 1974. This work covers mostly the descendants of Thomas Anderson Eppes and covers family history back to Francis Epes . Edna taught school 2 years before marriage and 2 years later. She secured a State Permanent Certificate to teach in lower or high school grades by first taking state examinations and later attending summer college cources. She worked in offices 25 years, over 17 years of it under Civil Service. In 1946 Edna married Mr. Bob Waits, but this marriage later terminated in divorce with restoration of former name, Allison.
