Edgar went to work as a fireman on the old Southern Pacific R.R. and then sent for Carrie to join in marriage. Then Edgar went into the stone-mason work about 1903, and continued in that line until his death, 14 Mar. 1946 at Del Rio, Texas. Many buildings of his fine rock work are still used today; among them the First National Bank at Bronte, Texas, the First State Bank at Winters, Texas; (it is of brown rock or brick); he also built the old Methodist Church at Ozona, near the courthouse - this was built at a later date and is used as center for historical items. A fire in the interior of the church in later years, darkened the rock work - the inscription "Methodist Church" is cut into the rock at the top of the church. 1940 - US Census - Junction, Kimble, Texas Household ....Role .Sex ..Age Birthplace Edgar Finney Head Male 61 ..Texas (single) Del Rio News Herald, Friday, March 15, 1946 pg 1 Finney Funeral Services Still Pending Funeral services for Edgar Poe Finney, 67, were still pending word from relatives Friday.
