The Superior Express (Superior, NE), Thursday, November 1, 1945; pg. 11 Mazour - Hjany (sic) Miss LaVeta Hjany (sic), daughter of Mrs. John Kucera, formerly Mrs. Emma Hjany (sic), and William Mazour, son of Mr. and Mrs. Boslav Mazour, were united in marriage Tuesday, Oct. 30 at Deweese. The Rev. Ekhaml officiated at the Nuptial mass. The bride was clad in a white satin gown and a trail veil. Her attendant, Miss Elsie Drudik was clad in a blue formal. The groom's attendant was Jimmie Nejchleb (sic). The wedding reception was held with large attendance. ========================== The Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Thursday, November 1, 1945; pg. 1 HAJNY - MAZOUR An impressive wedding ceremony took place at Our Lady of Assumption Church in Deweese, Tuesday morning, Oct. 30th at which Miss LaVeta Hajny, the daughter of Mrs. John Kucera became the bride of Mr. William Mazour, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bohnslave Mazour of Lawrence. Rev. Otto Eckhamel officiated at the double ring ceremony which was followed by a Nuptial High Mass. The bride wore a floor length dress of white satin, fashioned with a sweetheart neckline, the long sleeves came to a point at the wrist. The fitted bodice buttoned down the back. Embroidered chrysanthemums decorated the waistline from which fell a full marquisette skirt which fell into a train. She wore a fingertip veil edged in lace, coronet style trimmed in pearls. And carried an arm bouquet of white chrysanthemums and her jewelry was three strands of pearls. The bride was attended by Miss Elsie Drudik, who wore a floor-length gown of sky blue taffeta, also with brocaded bodice and full net skirt. Her dress was trimmed in fushia (sic) flowers at the shoulder and waist, and she carried a colonial bouquet. The groom wore a dark blue suit and his attendant was Jim Nejezchleb who was dressed in brown. Following the ceremony, a reception was held in the home of the bride's parents for 80 guests. The table was centered with a beautifully decorated 3-tiered wedding cake. The bride is a graduate of Lawrence High School and was employed in Hastings by the Telephone Co. The groom is a prosperous young farmer of the Lawrence community. They will make their home one mile east and 3 1/2 north of Lawrence. In the evening the happy couple entertained their numerous friends at a dance in the Parish hall. The community extends the very best wishes for a happy life. ======================== The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, September 25, 2008; pg. 10 Former Lawrence resident, LaVeta A. Mazour, 83, of Perkins Pavilion, died Friday, September 19, 2008, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings. Rosary was at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lawrence. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2008, at the church with Father Loral K. Grell officiating. Burial was in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery at Lawrence. Visitation was 3-9 p.m. Sunday at the Lawrence Funeral Home. Merten Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska, was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Mazour was born November 2, 1924, in Fairfield, Nebraska to Emil and Emma (Petr) Hajny. She attended elementary school in Deweese, NE, and graduated from Lawrence High School. She married William Mazour on October 30, 1945, in Lawrence, NE, and he preceded her in death on March 3, 1995. They farmed in the Lawrence area until moving into Lawrence in 1975. She lived at the Homestead before moving to Perkins Pavilion in Hastings, NE. She was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Altar Society. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Mrs. Mazour was preceded in death by her parents; husband; stepbrothers and stepsisters; a granddaughter, Sheri Mazour, and twin grandsons, Jimmy and Johnny Uhrmacher. Survivors include sons and spouses, Don and Mary Ann Mazour of Lawrence, NE; Gene and Eileen Mazour of Lawrence, NE: daughters and spouses Sally and Dale Uhrmacher of Nelson, NE; Patty and Doug Johnson of Ong, NE: 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
