Billy G. Ellis Born in Elmore City, Oklahoma on Mar. 7, 1929 Departed on Sep. 15, 2008 and resided in Austin, CO. Billy Glen Ellis of Austin died peacefully at home September 15, 2008 after a short brief illness. He was 79. Mr. Ellis was born March 7, 1929 in Elmore City, Oklahoma to Fred Ellis and Eva Woolsey. He married Ruby O. Gallegos on September 16, 1950. They have two daughters, Kathy and Elizabeth. He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. He was a Korean War Veteran. After the service he lived in Cedaredge briefly before moving to Bakersfield, California. In 1991 Billy retired from the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service. He and his wife returned to the Delta area in 1991 where Billy drove bus for the Delta County School System for ten years. Billy enjoyed camping, bowling, restoring VW cars, listening to country western music and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Ruby; two daughters, Kathy Meredith of Mancos, Colorado and Elizabeth Greening of Modesto, California; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and two sisters.
