Janet Schindler, 78, of North Bend, died Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Methodist Fremont Hospital. Funeral Service Wednesday, March 4, 2026, 10:30 A.M. St. Peter Lutheran Church, North Bend Rev. Lawson Short, Officiating Lunch in the fellowship hall immediately following the service Visitation Tuesday 5-7 PM with Sharing of Memories at 7 P.M. Kracl Funeral Chapel, Schuyler Additional Visitation Wednesday 9:30 - 10:15 A.M. at the church Committal in the Schuyler Cemetery at 2 P.M. Wednesday Janet Kay Settles Schindler was born July 23, 1947, in Fremont to Donn and Helen (Kavan) Settles. Jan grew up on a farm in rural Scribner where she and her family were active in 4H. She graduated from Scribner High School in 1965, continuing her education at Wayne State Teachers College. She later moved to California on a whim with a friend where she met her 1st husband and married on June 20, 1967, and had one son. Her love for the ocean lived with her for the rest of her life. She and her son moved back to Nebraska in 1975. She later married again and to this union a son and daughter. Surviving are her husband, 2 sons, a daughter and 6 grandchildren. Also surviving are 3 brothers and 2 brothers-in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, Donn and Helen Settles, in laws Lester and Darlene Schindler, sisters-in-law Sandie Friesen and Deb Kucera and nephew, Tyler Friesen
