Gerald Herzinger Obituary Funeral services for Gerald Herzinger age 94 of rural Pender, NE will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Christ in Wisner, NE. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Beemer Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Thursday one hour prior to the service at the church. Gerald passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, NE. Gerald Eugene Herzinger was born on March 22, 1931 to Rudolph and Helen (Pojar) Herzinger at Beemer, NE. He attended Cuming County Rural School District #31. Gerald began farming at an early age with his father. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from December 12, 1952 until he was honorably discharged on September 30, 1954. Upon his discharge he returned to farming. On September 15, 1956, he was united in marriage to LaVerne Sindelar at the Beemer United Methodist Church. Together they ran G & L Dairy, Gerald continued farming and also enjoyed helping his son Scott with custom haying. He also worked for Rabe and Risor Construction, ran the maintainer for Blaine and Grant Township, and helped at Albers Feedlot. He was a former member of Beemer Methodist Church, serving on the church council and finance committee and was currently a member of the Wisner United Methodist Church of Christ. He was a member of Beemer American Legion Post #159, and Wisner VFW Post #5767, where he served as Commander twice. He helped render funeral honors for many veterans. As a couple, they belonged to the Dudes and Dolls Square Dance Club. Gerald was never one to miss or be late to one of the grandchildren's or great grandchildren's activities and on this past 4th of July was presented with a Quilt of Valor in West Point, NE. Survivors include- Daughter-Cindy and Randy Plummer of Clarkson, NE Son-Dan Herzinger of Wisner, NE Son-Scott Herzinger of Beemer, NE Grandchildren and their families- Danny and Melanie Plummer and family- Alex Harris and Allyssa Bustillos and children-Grayson & Miles Tim Plummer and Amanda Anderson and family-McCoy, Harlan and Jewel Crystal and Mike Langham and family-Jaydon, Tatum, Hadley, Kailynn, Keegan, Carlee & Cayden Brandi and Nick Crippen and children-Rhiley, Raylan, & Roscoe Brother-Kenneth and Marion Herzinger of Sun City, AZ Sisters-in-law-VerNelle Schlecht of Scottsbluff, NE Janice Sindelar of Beemer, NE Shirley Herzinger of Omaha, NE Many nieces, nephews and family friends also survive Gerald. He was preceded in death by his parents-Rudolph and Helen Herzinger, wife-LaVerne, son-Mike, brothers-Morelle and Sandy Herzinger, and Donald Herzinger.
