Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 pm, with a rosary at 1:30 p.m. Bennie was born on September 16, 1941 in Sugar Land, Texas to Bennie Sr. and Frances Richter. Bennie was a 1960 graduate of Lamar Consolidated High School and began working for Schlumberger (now SLB) in August of 1960 where he continued working for 38 years. After retirement, he worked part-time for the T.W. Davis YMCA, opening and closing Pitts Park in Richmond, TX where he liked to say he earned his "fishing money". Bennie was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7745 where he served as a 3rd degree knight. Bennie was a Fort Bend County Fair Lifetime member, served a term on the Grand Jury for Fort Bend County, and was a member of the National Rifle Association. Bennie also participated in the Richmond Citizens Police Academy as well as the Fort Bend County Citizen's Police Academy. Bennie enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and for many years he never missed a sporting event or any other activity that his children or grandchildren were involved in. Bennie also loved camping with his family, spending many weekends and vacations at state parks all around Texas. Bennie loved saltwater fishing and talking about going fishing. He loved taking his boat out and taking guided fishing trips when time allowed. For many years during his retirement, he also enjoyed going country & western dancing with his wife, Sharon. Bennie knew how to fix just about anything, and he was always eager and willing to help and would be "right over" if you needed him. His smile and laugh will be greatly missed, along with all the funny sayings that he had for so many occasions. His kindness and devotion to his family will always be remembered. Bennie is preceded in death by his parents, Bennie Sr. and Frances (Janecka) Richter. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon Barber Richter; his children, Leslie Dulin and husband, Don, Travis Richter and wife, Kathy, and Ann Fernandes and husband, Pedro; his sister, Barbara J. Kunz and husband, Larry; and his grandchildren, Jennifer Dulin and husband, Heath, Kate Jameson and husband, Bonham, Heather Lapeyrouse and husband, Mark, Tanner Dulin, Jake Dulin, Dakota Goodson, Dylan Richter, and Kyle Richter; along with many other family members and friends.
