Bio

Clarice Joan (Nelson) Will, 91, of Oak Creek, died November 22 at Azura Living. ====== Clarice Joan Will (Nelson) died on November 22, 2025. She was born in Beresford, South Dakota on April 30, 1934, to the late Richard and Viola (Vetos) Nelson. Her childhood was spent on a farm during the height of the Depression, while she attended a one-room elementary country school. As challenging as this life was, the family was strong and persevered, overcoming common hardships felt by many during those times. Her family and friends who knew her well, were witness to the results of this in her personality. She was very generous, but also "one tough cookie!" She graduated from Beresford High School in 1952. Soon after, she made the move to Janesville, Wisconsin, where she lodged with family friends Melvin and Clara Johnson. She sought employment at the Chevrolet automobile factory, where she met a fellow by the name of Robert Will, who was employed in the Personnel Department. She obtained an accounting position. Cutting to the quick, the two were eventually married at First Lutheran Church on September 4, 1954. Clarice then became a life-long, devout member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she served in many capacities, and where she and "Bob" acquired many life-long friends. After the birth of "Their Three Sons," Clarice enthusiastically spent many hours creating magnificent clothing, much of which she herself modeled to perfection. She also was determined to make sure that her three boys always looked dapper, oftentimes creating three identical sport coats. In 1970, Clarice resumed her working career, starting as an accountant at Gardner Machine in Beloit, and ultimately doing tax returns for H&R Block. She retired in 1989. After retirement, Clarice and Bob enjoyed many travel adventures. From bus excursions to Washington, D.C. and Michigan's Upper Peninsula, among others, they crossed the sea and visited relatives in Germany, as well as spending time with family in Burgundy, France. They also stayed active in the church, participating in many capacities. She also gained interest in writing, and while taking classes, she composed dozens of recollections of times past from her life. A couple were even published. Sadly, in time, Clarice showed signs of memory loss, and was moved into assisted living, and eventually to memory care. Even during this time, she was such a tough fighter, exceeding all expectations with her physical stamina. Bob passed away on January 30, 2016. Clarice is survived by her three beloved sons. Clarice will be dearly missed by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Clarice also has a bounty of loving nieces and nephews. Clarice was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Nelson. Eternally resting at Milton Lawns Memorial Park.
