JANESVILLE—Richard T. Nelson, age 91, of 1700 S. River Rd., died Friday afternoon, Dec. 10, 1999, at the Cedar Crest Health Center. He was born January 19, 1908 in Laurel, NE, the son of the late Olai and Anna (Vethe) Nelson. He married Viola Vetos in June of 1931 in Beresford, SD. They farmed for many years in South Dakota before migrating to Janesville in 1953. He was employed by Libby McNeil and Libby as a maintenance supervisor until retiring in 1973. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, and was an active volunteer there. He is survived by his loving wife, Viola; his son, Melvin (Patricia) Nelson of Naples, FL; his daughter, Clarice (Robert) Will of Janesville; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandson. He is further survived by his sisters: Bertha Nebelsieck of Arlington, SD, Helen Olseth of Sioux falls, SD, and Mildred Flynn of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister-in-law, Grace Nelson of Beresford, SD; nieces, nephews, and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Jim and Ben; his 2 sisters, Nora and Hazel; and by a great-granddaughter, Allison Will. Funeral services will be held on Tues., Dec. 14,1999 at the FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH CHAPEL, with Rev. Harold Kromrey officiating, burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park.
