October 30, 1924 - October 23, 2015. William Edgar "Ed" Myers passed away October 23, 2015 in Palestine, Texas at the age of 90. He was born October 30, 1924 in Albany, Texas. He was preceded in death by parents Quater Naomi and John Edgar Myers, sister Vera Myers Burkman, son Jon Michael "Mike" Myers, former wife Sylvia Lynette Fincher Myers, and wife Marlene Marie Hobbs Myers. Ed is survived by one sibling Johnnie Toxi Stephens of Lakeview, Oregon. Surviving daughters are Deborah Myers Denson, Marcy Myers (both of Palestine) and Kelly Myers Weaver and husband Tom Weaver of Henderson. Also survived by step-children Jerri Spence Fincher, Stephen Randall Spence, Crystal Spence Hudson, and Craig Spence.. Grandchildren are Amanda May Hardy, Michael Kace Shirey, Michael Brock Denson, Jeffrey Lynn Denson, Michael Dane Myers and Aaron Myers Montenez, and several step-grandchildren, nieces and great-grandchildren.. Ed joined the U.S. Navy at 17, serving his military duty as a signalman aboard supply and transport ships sent to the South Pacific during WWII. He returned from the war front to his hometown of Albany, Texas to marry Sylvia Lynette Fincher in 1947. There he began his oilfield career working on drilling rigs, soon to gain a manager's position with Bradford Supply Company (later to become Atlas Bradford Supply Co.), prompting relocation to Electra, Texas. Years later, in 1960, the opportunity to become a business owner in Palestine arose, whereby Ed and his family relocated to Palestine to open White's Auto Store on W. Oak. He later was employed by Brown & Root construction company as a new construction electrician assigned to nuclear power plants. He and Marlene lived in various locations along the Gulf Coast during his tenure with B&R. Ed retired as a valued employee after 25 years of service. He and Marlene continued to enjoy traveling long after his retirement, particularly to Mexico, until Marlene's death in 2000. Ed was a former licensed pilot for single engine planes, possessed considerable talent in woodworking, construction and furniture building, and was an enthusiastic reader of southern history.. Ed lived in the Circle R Lake Club community with wife Marlene from 1988 until February 2015, when he relocated to Dogwood Trails Assisted Living community..
