Bio
On Tuesday, September 22, 2020, Jonnie T. Stephens passed on at Lakeview Gardens, Lakeview, Oregon. She had recently celebrated her 100th birthday, complete with a party, at the Wild Plum House. Jonnie was born September 14, 1920, in Albany, Texas, to John and Quater (Mackey) Myers. She was the second of three children. She grew up in Albany and graduated from Albany High School. In April 1940, she and Roy Laverne Risley were married in Lueders, Texas. She spent much of her earlier married life at home, raising their two daughters, Toxie and Margie. In later years, she explored various passions while living in San Antonio, Texas. She joined several groups who studied mystic Eastern religions and self-development. Much of her time was spent reading and broadening her knowledge. Birdwatching and the garden were two of her favorite past times. She enjoyed the quiet solitude of the desert and was an avid antique sleuth, spending hours searching for hidden treasures (while wearing her white gloves). Jonnie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Quater; sister, Vera; brother, Ed; and daughter, Margie. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Toxie (Risley) and Bert Young of Lakeview, their four daughters and sons-in-law; Cyrille Young and Jim Medeiros of Wilsons, Virginia; Celeste Blythe of Eugene, Oregon; Cheryl Eniero of Lakeview; and Cyndi and Bob Havely of Lakeview; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Shelli and Chris Black of Houston, Texas; and grandson an granddaughter-in-law, Thom and Kimberly Forsberg of Rockport, Texas. There are fourteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandsons. At her request, there will be no services and she will be returned to her beloved state of Texas. Interment will be at a later date in Albany, Texas. Contributions in Jonnie's memory can be made to Lake County Seniors Association 11 N G Street, Lakeview, OR 97630.
