Found in the 1920, 1930 censuses at Salt Lake City, Utah: 1920: Moroni A Smith 44, Blanche Smith 38,Lela Smith 16, Ray Smith 14, Merrill Smith 12, Evelyn Smith 11, Emery Smith 9, Scott Smith 8, Alice Smith 5 yrs 3 mos. 1930: Maroni A Smith 55, Blanche Smith 49, Leland R Smith 24, Evelyn B Smith 22, Emery C Smith 20, Scot A Smith 19, Alice M Smith 15, Phyllis L Smith 9. Says he is a wool driver. Found in the 1930 census at Baggs, Carbon, Wyoming: Leland R Smith 23 (counted twice in 1930) Leland married Mary Jane Jebens on July 16, 1930 at Heber City, Wasatch, Utah. The couple had 6 children. Found in the 1940 census at Snake River, Carbon, Wyoming: Ray Smith 34, Mary Smith 30, Merrill L Smith 8, Dianne Smith 5, Lynn Smith 3, Archie Smith 50, Wm Williams 19. Leland Smith died September 28, 1974 at Craig, Moffat, Colorado. ***** October 11, 1974, Greeley Daily Tribune Obituary: Funeral services were held in Salt Lake City, Utah on Tuesday, October 1st, 1974 for Leland Ray Smith, of Craig, Colorado, a long time rancher and expert on fat lamb production. Interment was also in Salt Lake City. Smith, known through out the Rocky Mountain area as one of the country's experts, died September 28, in Craig Memorial hospital. He had had extensive ranch holdings in Colorado and Wyoming and in addition had engaged in feeding and fattening lambs at Eaton and at Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He was active in the promotion of both lambs and wool and had been a member of both National and Wyoming Wool Growers Assocs. Last spring, the 50th lamb crop was produced on Smith's holdings since he began raising sheep in 1923. Born in Heber City, Utah, September 11, 1905, he was reared there and married Mary Jebens on July 16, 1930. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Mary Jebens Smith, are 2 sons and 4 daughters, Leland R Smith and Bradford M Smith and Mrs J W (Lu) Garrett, all of Craig, CO; Mrs R S (Diane) Drost of Carlsbad, CA; Mrs R L (Lynn) Booleter of Taiwan; and Mrs J R (Jayne) Tuttle of Platteville and 11 grandchildren. Also survivng are 2 brothers, Emery C and Scott A Smith; 4 sisters: Mrs R V Wixom; Mrs R W Olson; Mrs M W Sheya and Mrs R L Stewart, all of Salt Lake City.
