Bio
Walter W. Gragert passed away at the Lake Placid Health Care Center on Monday, May 19, 2014 at the age of 80 and joined his Lord. Walt was born in Rosenberg, Texas on May 11, 1934 to Fritz and Annie Gragert who preceded him in death, along with an adopted son, Kevin. Walt entered the U.S. Air Force in 1951 and served his country as an airplane mechanic until 1955. When Walt retired from his auto parts business in 1989, he moved to Florida to enjoy his passion of fishing. He also loved to garden. On December 11, 1992 he married his wife, Jean, of Wisconsin. They were married 22 years. Walt is survived by his wife, Jean of Lake Placid, Florida; his brother, George Gragert; three daughters, Patricia Miller, Julie (Brad) Mouton and their children, Chase Gragert and Kylie Mouton; adopted daughter, Michelle (Charlie) Vaughn; and son, Walter Jr., all of Texas; one stepdaughter, Stacey (Mark) Schmitz and their three children, Brooke, Taylor and Colby of Wisconsin. A celebration of life memorial service will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 7 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church, 327 Plumosa Street, Lake Placid, Florida. Pastor Johnny Bryant will officiate. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests sending a donation to an Alzheimer's Foundation to fund a cure.
