Dick Carlson passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 20, 2025 in his home surrounded by family. There will be a memorial service held at a later date. OBITUARY: DICK CARLSON Dick was born in Aurora, NE to Cyrus and Carrie Carlson on August 25, 1935. He was married to Thelma (Wolff) on April 15, 1956 and they were blessed with five children. Dick wrote in a letter, "We have been the luckiest couple of people in this world. We love each other so much we cannot seem to find anything to fight about." Dick graduated from Aurora High School and worked for Coast to Coast, had his own TV repair shop, and as a custodian for the United Methodist Church and Aurora Public Schools. He served as an Aurora Volunteer Fireman, on the Aurora City Council and the Hamilton Community Foundation, and enjoyed delivering bulletins for the United Methodist Church. Dick loved spending time outdoors and collecting things. He enjoyed trapping, fishing, camping, and tinkering in his garage. He loved going to sales and adding to his coin collection. What he will be remembered for most was the strong faith and enduring values he imparted on his family. Here are more of his words, "It has been a great life and we are blessed beyond belief. God is always with us in everything we do and say. May He also fill you up with all the love you can hold." Dick is survived by his wife Thelma, his five children, Kim (Buck) Schaffert, Tim (Terri) Carlson, Jana (Greg) Luthy, Cara (Rick) Penner, Jenny (DM) Forker as well as 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren and his sister Noni Troester. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cyrus Carlson and Carrie (Van Wormer) White, and siblings Gloria Christian, Donna Taylor, Eugene (Red) Carlson, Carolyn Wolff.
