Warren Eugene 'Red' Carlson, the son of Cyrus Eugene and Carrie Mae (Van Wormer) Carlson, was born at the family farm south of Aurora, Nebraska on September 29, 1925 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on December 28, 2005, at the age of 80. He grew up in Hamilton County and graduated from Aurora High School in 1947. Red served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On March 7, 1946, he was united in marriage to Minnedell "Winnie" Augusta Enderle at Fayetteville, North Carolina. They had three children: Jo, Jerry and Jean Anne. Red worked for Gambles, Bremer Dairy and the Aurora Veterinary Clinic as a bookkeeper. Winnie passed away on December 3, 1984. Red was a member of the American Legion, V.F.W., N.R.A. and the Hamilton County Historical Society. Red liked to do woodworking and carving. He loved to go hunting, fishing and trapping. Red also enjoyed to read. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister, Donna Taylor and brothers-in-law, Melvin Troester and Richard Christian. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Jerry (Gloria) Carlson of Aurora; two daughters, Jo (Clair) Gausman of Aurora, Colorado and Jean Anne (Darrell) Schmidt of Hampton; seven grandchildren, Brian, Kacie and Kevin Gausman, Shauna and Alena Carlson and Jeff (Tina) and Nate Schmidt; a brother, Dick (Thelma) Carlson of Aurora and three sisters, Gloria Christian of Hastings, Noni Troester of Hampton and Carolynne (LaVern) Wolff of Aurora.
