Bio

E. J. Hajek, founder and operator of three business colleges in Hagerstown, died suddenly Tuesday morning at his home, 1104 Potomac Ave. He was 72. A native of Texas, Mr. Hajek came to Hagerstown in 1938 and established the Hagerstown Business College in the Professional Arts Building on Public Square. In 1948 he moved the school's quarters to 441 N. Potomac St. and added the Maryland Medical Secretarial School and the National Legal Secretarial School to his Hagerstown Business College enterprise. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Hettie O. Hajek, son, Richard J. Hajek, Hagerstown; daughters, Mrs. Doris Drawbaugh, Hagerstown; Mrs. Jacqueline Werner, Alexandria, Va.; brother Joseph B. Hajek, Fort Worth, Texas, and three grandsons. Funeral services will be held at the Minnich Funeral Home, Hagerstown, on Friday morning at 10 o'clock with Father Charles Dausch officiating.
