Mrs. Hettie Overbey Hajek, 78, of 1104 Potomac Ave., died Tuesday morning at her home. She was the widow of E. J. Hajek. Born in Stem, N.C., she was a daughter of John R. and Annie B. Meadows Overbey. She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, the Golden Rule Bible Class of the church and Halfway Homemakers Club. She is survived by daughters, Dr. Jacqueline P. Werner of Atlanta, Ga., and Mrs. Hettie D. Drawbaugh of Hagerstown; a son, Richard J. Hajek of Hagerstown; three sisters and one brother; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the rest haven Funeral Chapel. The Rev. G. Edward Grove will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel at any time. The family requests the omission of flowers, and memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
