Joseph Hajek, West Pioneer, Funeral Held Joseph V. Hajek, 88, a resident of West for 70 years, died in a Waco hospital Thursday, March 8. He suffered a stroke Wednesday. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Assumption in West. Rev. George Doskocil officiated. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold's Chapel. Mr. Hajek was the son of Martin Hajek, and Victoria Kulhanek of Czechoslovakia. He was formerly in the furniture and undertaking business and he also farmed before he retired several years ago. He was born on March 19, 1867, being 88 years, 11 months, and 19 days old. Surviving are two sons, E.J. Hajek of Maryland and J.E. Hajek of Fort Worth; thirteen grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
