Obituary: Lula Allene Lawson Collins, of Coeburn, VA, entered into rest on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Norton Community Hospital. Lula was of the Pentecostal faith. She will be fondly remembered for singing in numerous churches with her late husband, Garnett Lawson, for many years. She made the best fried chicken and enjoyed cooking family meals until she became unable to do so. She will also be remembered for her love of NASCAR and WWE wrestling. She was always Jeff Gordon's and John Cena's biggest fan. She was lovingly referred to as "Mamaw G" by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lula is preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Garnett Lawson, infant daughter, Joan Lawson, her second husband, Arlen Collins, and stepchildren Ram Collins and Joe Collins. Lula is survived by three sons, Donald Lawson (Elizabeth) of St. Paul, VA, Larry Lawson (Deborah) of Duffield, VA, and Mike Lawson (Sharon) of Coeburn, VA; four granddaughters, Lorra Reynolds (Mike) of Pennington Gap, VA, Britney Salyer (Jonathon) of Castlewood, VA, Charity Hill (Jonathan) of Blackwater, VA, and Lucindy Hall (Noah) of Coeburn, VA; seven great grandchildren, Rylie, Elise, and Julie Salyer and Noah, Jonah, Luka and Baby Hill. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Henry Collins, Earl Collins, Elmer Collins, Jean Fields, Aline Johnson, Bonnie Little (Keith), and Jacqueline Johnson; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Lula Allene Lawson Collins will be conducted at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Estes Funeral Home, Coeburn, Virginia, with Pastor Junior Sexton officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Estes Funeral Home in Coeburn, Virginia. Interment will be on Monday, June 9 th , at 11:00 a.m. at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Virginia. Family and friends will leave Estes Funeral Home in procession at 10:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, nephews, and friends.
