SUDDEN DEATH ------------------ SUDDEN DEATH OF JOHN SCOTT ------------------ An Apoplectic Attack Followed by Paralysis ------------------ A sad and unexpected death took place one mile east of the city at 1 0'clock this morning, in which John Scott, an old and highly esteemed citizen of Grayson county, was summoned out upon the long journey of death. About 10:30 last nigh Mrs. Scott noticed that her husband was breathing very hard and irregular, and when she went to wake him up found him in a SEMI UNCONSIOUS STATE and unable to articulate, or at least to speak in an intelligible manner. All the means at hand were used to resuscitate the old gentleman and revive him up, but the efforts were futile and without the least affect. A runner was sent to the city at once for a physician and Dr. Wright repaired to the scene at once. An examination was made and the unfortunate was found to be PARALYZED ON THE RIGHT SIDE and unable to move that portion of his body. In this condition the sufferer lay until 10 o'clock this morning when death came to relieve him. Dr. Wright states that the death is directly traceable, as is also the paralysis, to an apoplectic attack, perhaps superinduced by old age, the deceased being in his sixty-second year. He had been complaining all day of feeling bad and the family had been very watchful, and it is not thought the attack was at any considerable time before it was discovered and hence it is believed to have been very sudden and almost necessarily fatal. The deceased was the father of Wm Scott, president of the Farmers' Alliance of Grayson county and manager of the Alliance mill in this city. An apoplectic attack is probably a cerebral hemorrhage.
