She died Friday, May 25, 2007, at Faith Regional Health Services. ________________________________ Verna was born June 21, 1920 in Lusk, Wyo., the daughter of Wilie and Luella (Freeman) Carrico. She was raised in Norfolk and graduated from Norfolk High School. She was employed at an egg processing plant in Norfolk. On May 20, 1938, Verna Married Everett Kohler in Albion. They made their home in Norfolk. While raising her family Verna also worked as the bookkeeper for their filling station. Later, she was employed by Norfolk Public Schools, working with the hot lunch program in Lincoln Elementary School. She volunteered at the Norfolk Veterans Home, and after her retirement from the school system, Verna spent countless hours at the Veterans Home. Whenever she saw or heard of someone in need of help, Verna helped them. Verna was a member of the First Christian Church. She was very active in the American Legion and VFW auxiliaries. She enjoyed bowling, which she continued until last year. Verna is survived by her son and his wife, Sam and Karen Kohler of Norfolk; seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; one sister, Joy Nelson of Norfolk; and one sister-in-law, Frances Carrico of Norfolk. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Karen Alexander, one great grandchild, three brothers and one sister.
