Bio
Helen Mae Purvis, age 91, of Grand Island, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Emerald Lakeview Rehab with her daughter Debbie by her side. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, April 10th at 11:30 am at All Faiths Funeral Home. A visitation will be held one hour prior. Helen was born on December 26, 1933 in Burwell, NE to William and Rosie (Urban) Tuma. She grew up on the family farm in Valley County and graduated from Ord High School. On September 4, 1954 she was united in marriage to Melvin Henry Purvis. They raised their family in Grand Island. After Melvin passed away in 1989, she worked for Best Western and was a foster grandparent at the YWCA. Helen was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading and puzzle books. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Debbie Friedrichsen of Grand Island and Cynthia Ochoa of Billings, MT and grandsons, Steven and Kyle. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sons, Bobby, David, Michael and James and half-brother, George.
