Bio
Janice Wilkie, of Fremont, NE, joined her heavenly father suddenly and unexpectedly, surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the age of 88 at Methodist Fremont Health. She was born April 17, 1936, in Morse Bluff to Wayne and Ruby (Roumph) LeGrande. Janice graduated from North Bend High School as a Valedictorian. She married Clyde Wilkie on November 6, 1954, at First United Methodist Church in Fremont. He preceded her in death on October 18, 2020. She worked as an independent insurance agent for the majority of her life. She was an active member of Fremont First United Methodist Church. Janice volunteered weekly, for many years, for the church. She was a member of the Fremont Boat Club, Eagles Auxiliary, and Odd Fellows. Janice enjoyed outdoor recreation for 20 years at their lake home, camping and boating enjoying the company and family and friends. She was a wonderful cook and baked the best chocolate chip cookies and banana bread for her family. Janice loved spending time in her flower garden. Janice is survived by her son, Ron (Beth) Wilkie of Beaver Dam, WI; brothers, Harold (Eileen) LeGrande of Omaha, and Dennis LeGrande of Fremont; sisters, Donna Bone and Sharon (Don) Sawtelle both of Fremont and Pat Moeller of Hooper; two grandchildren, Alyssa Wilkie and Riane (Michael) Bucholz; beloved nieces and nephews and close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clyde; son, Randy Wilkie; brother, Gary LeGrande; sister, Kathy LeGrande The funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Monday, March 17, 2025, at First United Methodist Church in Fremont. Rev. Tony Dawson will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until service time at the Church on Monday. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Cedar Bluffs, NE.
