Bio

Robert William Kirkham 1939 - 2025 VETERAN Robert William Kirkham, age 85, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, in Saratoga Springs, Utah. He was born August 24, 1939, in Lehi, Utah, the firstborn of twins, followed by his brother, Richard, to William Leon Kirkham and Violet Florence Robbins Kirkham—large family with eight children. He grew up on the family farm where he learned the principles of hard work. He had a paper route and worked for Wathen's Shoe Repair as a young teen. He participated in high school sports, excelling in wrestling, becoming a state champion and voted outstanding wrestler. He graduated from Lehi High School in 1957. He developed a love for rodeo after secretively riding the family milk cow. He participated in bull riding, bareback, calf roping and wild cow milking. He also had a love for the outdoors and in his early teens he built a boat that led to a life-changing experience, at the age of 17, on Utah Lake where he received his powerful testimony of prayer. He served for eight years in the Utah National Guard 1457 Engineer Unit, where he received the sharp shooter award. In 1959, he founded Kirkham Upholstery, serving the community proudly with his excellent craftsmanship. On June 30, 1960, Robert married his sweetheart, Glenda Mae Johnson, in the Manti Utah Temple. They were blessed with four children. After Glenda passed away in 2009, he worked at the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple in American Fork, Utah. While working in the baptistry, he met and later married, JoAnn Stewart Lewis, on December 28, 2012. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served faithfully. He was called to serve a mission at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah. He is survived by his children: Clayton W. (Julie) Kirkham, Farr West; Kristi Kirkham Allen, Lehi; Sheri (Blake) Probst, Sweet, Idaho; Chase (Shauna) Kirkham, Saratoga Springs; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Richard, Norman, Linda, and Margie.
