The Daily Herald, Provo, UT, Tuesday, Aug 12, 2003, pg 15: "Violet Florence Robbins Kirkham, our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and Aunt, passed away Sunday, August 10, 2003, of congestive heart failure. She was surrounded by her loving family, in her home of 70 years, at the time of her passing. "Violet was born April 13, 1911, to Alice May Downs and Francis Robbins in Salt Lake City, Utah. She graduated from West High School. Violet was married to William Leon Kirkham on June 1, 1933, in the Salt Lake Temple. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints where she served as Primary president, teacher and choir president. "Her life work was to raise her family and be with her numerous posterity. She is survived by her brothers, Clarence Robbins of Salt Lake City, and John Leonard Robbins of Oklahoma City, OK. Her eight children, Melvin Kirkham (Lueen), Connie Nielsen (Glen), Robert Kirkham (Glenda), all of Lehi; Richard Kirkham (Linda Kay), Alpine; Norman Kirkham (Mary Alice), North Salt Lake; Linda Mecham (Richard), Leona Gray (David), both of American Fork; Margie Stevens (Ronald), Salt Lake; 51 grandchildren; 98 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. "Her sister, Mavis Turpin of El Cajon, CA., and husband William Leon Kirkham who died 17 June 1986 preceded her in death. "A viewing will be held Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2003, from 7-9 p.m. at Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main, Lehi. The funeral will be held Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lehi East Stake Center, 851 N. 1200 E., Lehi, with a viewing prior to the funeral from 10-11:00 a.m. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery."
