Theresa Cecilia Zezulka passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Theresa was born in Hostyn, Texas on November 17, 1936 to George and Vlasta (Korenek) Rainosek. She was the youngest daughter of eight children. Theresa lived most of her childhood on a family farm in Smithville, Texas. Theresa married Norman Dean Beck and had three children, Michael (Reba) Beck, Deborah Beck, and Beverly (Jon) Luce. She worked several years at the post offices in Austin and Manor. She and Norman lived in Manor until his passing in 1970. Theresa married Alex Zezulka in 1973 and had two children, Nicole Zezulka and Regina (Wilbert) Easley. She and Alex lived in Manor until Alex's passing in July 2021 and were married for 48 years. Our mother was an exceptional cook. Her home was bustling with family get-togethers at every holiday. She and Alex's barbecue and fresh garden vegetables drew quite a crowd. Annually during harvest, all of her children would get the call to come help process and preserve the corn, peas, beans, tomatoes, and cucumbers, which had to picked every other day, a task that was summer long. Her dill pickles and hot sauces were often donated for fundraisers and always sold for top dollar. Family members would gather each fall and make pork and venison sausage in the authentic Czech tradition. As a special treat, Theresa made wonderful poppyseed kolaches. She gave much of her time to the Catholic Church and made hundreds of pecan pies for those in need. One of Theresa's favorite hobbies was her Depression Glass collecting. It all started with her mother saving the glassware that was found in oatmeal boxes and over the years her collection filled many displays. As a result, all of her children became collectors as well. She could stretch a dollar better than anyone and instilled this trait in her family. Theresa is preceded in death by her siblings, Clara Vinklarek, Marcella Rainosek, Beatrice Vyvjala, Mary Jacobs, Rose Rainosek, Frank Rainosek, and George Rainosek, Jr. She is also preceded in death by her step-daughter Cathy Zezulka Woodward. Theresa is survived by her five children, Michael (Reba) Beck, Deborah Beck, Beverly (Jon) Luce, Nicole Zezulka, Regina (Wilbert) Easley., and step-daughter Brenda (Floyd) Cantrell. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
