Bio

Norma Winters Freeman was the tenth and youngest child of Arthur Ray and Norma Sundberg Winters, born on November 22, 1936. She also had eleven half-siblings from her father's first marriage, making her his twenty-first child. Her passing closes a valiant generation. She was born and raised in Pleasant Grove, Utah, where she met her high-school sweetheart, Dee Freeman. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on June 22, 1956. They made their home in Pleasant Grove, where their children, Carolyn, Sheriann, Ryan, and Kyle, were born and raised as well. Dee and Norma moved to Lindon in 1996. Norma cherished her membership in the Church of Jesus Church of Latter-Day Saints. She served as President of the Relief Society and held callings in the Primary, Sunday School, and Young Women organizations. She and Dee also served as Guest Service Missionaries at Temple Square, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She considered her roles as wife and mother to be her most important. She was a devoted homemaker, and an accomplished seamstress. Norma was instrumental in helping Dee start and run the family business, which grew and succeeded for over thirty years. She helped her family create many fond memories of camping, fishing, and traveling with the trailer to scenic areas throughout the western United States and into Canada. She felt a keen connection to her pioneer heritage, since her grandparents came across the plains in a covered wagon. Two of her aunts were married to apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her pioneer spirit carried her through to the end. She peacefully passed away on March 4th, 2024, a fitting date for a lady who continued to "march forth" despite difficulty and pain. Her faith was one of her greatest strengths. Norma is survived by her beloved husband Dee, her children Carolyn (Kevin) Birrell, Sheriann (Gary) Kovacs, Ryan (Sandy) Freeman, and Kyle (Cynamon) Freeman, as well as seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024 at Olpin Family Mortuary; 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove, Utah. A short service for family and close friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, followed by interment in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. The family wishes to thank all who have shown their concern and support, particularly the Lindon/Orem first responders, the staff at both Timpanogos Hospital, and Enhabit Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to American Fork Hospital NICU, or a charity of your choice. (Obituary published on Legacy.com by Olpin Family Mortuary on Mar. 6, 2024.)
