Son of John and Catherine [Tessinger?] Hajek. Married Mary Shalon on October 18, 1887 at Abie, Nebr. by Rev. Joseph Hovorka, Catholic priest. ''''''''''''''''''''' Colfax County Call (Schuyler, Nebr.), May 11, 1939, p. 5, col. 3 Anton Hajek Dies Following a Long Illness at Home Anton Hajek passed away at his home in south Schuyler, Friday after an illness of seventeen months duration. Mr. Hajek had suffered from diabetes for several years. Anton Hajek was born near Fort Dodge, Iowa, February 22nd 1899 [sic]. When five years of age he came with his parents to Nebraska, where they settled on a farm two and one-half miles south and two miles east of Edholm. At the age of Nineteen, he was united in marriage with Miss Marie Shalon of that vicinity and they went to housekeeping on the same farm where he had lived as a boy. A son James has occupied the home place, since his parents purchased the home in Schuyler some years ago. Mrs. Hajek passed away in 1932. Mr. Hajek is survived by four sons, Max and Anton J. of Kelso, Washington, James and William of the Edholm vicinity, and three daughters, Mrs. Maggie Rousar of Graceville, Minn., Mrs. Anna Rousar of Walthill, and Mrs. William Teller of Bellwood. A daughter, Mrs. Stazy Vodiaska [sic] passed away in Schuyler in 1930. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Bideaux chapel, with Reverend W. G. White officiating. Burial was made in the Schuyler cemetery. '''''''''''''''''' The Schuyler Sun , May 11, 1939, p. 8, col. 7 & 8 ANTON F. HAJEK Anton F. Hajek, 73, died at his home in south Schuyler about 2:30 Friday morning after an illness of a year and five months. Mr. Hajek was the son of John and Kate Hajek, early homesteaders of Butler county. He was born near Decorah, Winneshiek county, Ia., Feb. 22, 1866. He came to Nebraska with his parents who homesteaded in Butler county between Abie and Octavia in 1870. The trip from Iowa to Nebraska was made in a covered wagon. Mr. Hajek farmed in Butler county until 1917 when he and his wife moved to Schuyler where their remaining years were spent. Mrs. Hajek died Dec. 22, 1932. The following children survive: James Hajek, who lives on the old homestead in Butler county, William Hajek of Colfax county, Max Hajek and Anton Hajek, both of Kelso, Wash., Mrs. Anna Rousar of Walthill, Mrs. Maggie Rousar of Graceville, Minn., and Pauline, wife of William Teller, Butler county farmer. Two brothers, Frank Hajek of Schuyler and Casper Hajek of near Abie, and 16 grandchildren also survive. A daughter, Stazie, wife of Emil Vondraska of Butler cunty, died in 1930. Funeral services, with burial in the Schuyler cemetery, were held at the Bideaux chapel Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. W. G. White, Presbyterian pastor, officiating.
