Bio
Doris Spitzer, much loved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, April 28, 2011. Mom fought a courageous battle with cancer. Doris was born on Oct. 18, 1928, to Richard and Bertha Andres in Medina, N.D. She taught school during the Depression years in North Dakota before marrying our dad, Calvin Spitzer, on Sept. 24, 1948. Together, they farmed in Streeter, N.D., then moving to Billings, where Mom was a bookkeeper for the Montana Power Company until her retirement. She loved to craft and crocheted dolls, made teddy bears, quilts and Christmas stockings for us, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made extras "just in case a new baby would come." Doris is survived by her six children: daughters Debbie (Nolan) Krieger of Billings, Sandi (Bill) Stout of Culdesac, Idaho, and Susan (Larry) Diedrich of Billings; sons Steve (Sandi) Spitzer of Dundee, Ore., Dave (Teresa) Spitzer and Don (Shirley) Spitzer, both of Billings; brother Jim Andres; and sister Betty Pfaff and Jean Gerber, all of North Dakota. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mom, you were our rock, much loved and adored mother and grandmother. Your love will forever be with us until we see you again. Love you! Enjoy your reunion with dad!! Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at the New Apostolic Church. Cremation will follow services.
