Bio

New Iberia – Funeral services will be held at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Pellerin Funeral Home, for Marie "Mimi" Frusha Marks, 95, who passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Rev. Keith Landry will officiate. A private family interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, in Dry Creek, LA Visitation will be Wednesday, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Pellerin Funeral Home. Mrs. Marks was born on October 4, 1929, to the late Austin and Irene Bailey Frusha, in DeRidder. After high school, she married U.G. Davis and then moved to Galveston, Texas, where she worked for several years prior to starting her family. In her early years, Mrs. Marks enjoyed sewing beautiful clothes for her daughters, as well as herself. She also attended Lamar Business College, in Beaumont, Texas. After residing in Houston, Texas for many years, she and her second husband, Herman Marks, moved to New Iberia, where he worked for her brother, Hubert Frusha, at the Volkswagen Dealership. They then opened a dental lab in Tyler, Texas and retired after 20 years, moving back to New Iberia. Throughout her life, Mrs. Marks had many jobs, including working for a non-profit center for abused women in Tyler, Texas. Her time there had a special place in her heart. Mrs. Marks enjoyed traveling with her husband Herman, and with her daughter, Kathy, and her grandchildren, including trips to visit her daughter, Lori in Houston, where she enjoyed many adventures. She loved entertaining and cooking delicious meals for her family and friends. A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, "Mimi" will be deeply missed. Survivors include her beloved daughter, Kathy D. Romero (Lynn); grandchildren, Jennifer Romero Manuel (Christopher), and Ryan Lynn Romero (fiancé, Natalie); great grandchildren, Alexander Manuel, Suri Romero, Madeline Manuel, Jett Romero, and Matthew Manuel; several nieces and nephews; and many friends who adored her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, U.G. Davis and Herman Marks; daughter, Lori Brundrett; siblings, Jesse Frusha, Eula Mae Young, Hollis Frusha, Willis Frusha, Hubert Frusha, and Altha Honea. Pallbearers will be Ryan Romero, Christopher Manuel, Alex Manuel, Jett Romero, and Matthew Manuel. Honorary pallbearer is Lynn Romero. The family would like to give special thanks to Bayou Shadows Rehabilitation, the staff of New Iberia Manor South, Traditions Hospice, Pro NP Care, and to Ginger Williams, for their exceptional care and compassion.
