Bio

The Reverend Robert A. Beattie, age 87, of Prescott Valley, AZ, died Saturday, May 31, 2014 at York, NE. He was born October 26, 1926 at Grand Island, NE to Carey and Maude (Barker) Beattie. Robert served in the US Navy during WWII. He was united in marriage to Margaret Robinson in 1945 in St. Louis, MO. Later, on November 4, 1995, he was married to Muriel Osterhout in Phoenix, AZ. He was a machinist and had worked for ITT Canon in Phoenix for 30 years. Robert was a member of First Southern Baptist Church. He enjoyed bowling and was the former president of the bowling association in Phoenix. He was an avid reader and loved to read with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed midget racing. Survivors include his wife Muriel of Prescott Valley AZ; three daughters, Kathy (Glenn) Benner of Phoenix, AZ, Pat (Paul) Norbury and Kay McCoy of Prescott Valley; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four step-children, Liz (Dix) Fairburn of Medford, OR, Robert (Connie) Widmann of Sunnyside, WA, Chris (Mark) Iverson from Mexico, and Daryll Widmann of Medford, OR. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Clara Beattie, first wife, brother Richard, sisters, Helen and Donna, and son-in-law Ron. Memorial services for Robert are pending. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
