John W. “Jack” Morrow, 79, of Grand Island died Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Grand Island. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. Pastor Jim Parker will officiate. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Flag presentation will be by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119 of St. Paul. Mr. Morrow was born Feb. 6, 1937, in a sod home near Ericson to John and Minnie (Wray) Morrow. He was raised on a farm north of Scotia and attended Scotia Schools, where he graduated in 1954. He was active in high school sports, excelling in football and track. Jack entered the United States Air Force on Feb. 9, 1956. For much of his time in the service, he was stationed in Germany. He received his discharge on Nov. 24, 1959. Jack was united in marriage to Rosemarie Lenz on Nov. 7, 1960, in Smith Center, Kan. After returning from his military service, he played guitar in nightclubs with his dad and also played at barn dances. He had his own custom harvesting business located in Elba. He did custom work in central Nebraska. Jack also worked for many years in Colorado and Kansas, working as a shag driver for various companies. He married Anna Fenton on Nov. 3, 1999, in Grand Island. Jack enjoyed reading, fishing, playing horseshoes, playing cards and bowling. He was a very good bowler and was fortunate to bowl with some professional bowlers. He loved to dance, especially country western, polka and waltzes. In the past he played on the Horace softball team. Survivors include his wife, Anna of Grand Island; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ralph and Nellye Morrow of Arkansas, Kan., Tony and Tamy Morrow and Patrick Morrow, all of Elba; two stepdaughters, Carmen Golden of Grand Island and Crystal Briscoe of LaVista; six grandchildren, six stepgrandchildren, six great- grandchildren and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Dan and Peggy Morrow of Ashton, Jim and Cheryl Morrow of St. Libory, Bob and Judy Morrow of Norfolk and Jerry Morrow of Grand Island; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary and Tony Kvetensky of Grand Island and JoAnne Reentz of Fremont. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Donald Kenneth Morrow; a brother, Larry Morrow; and a sister, Patricia Morrow.
