Edward Joseph Hosek, passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on January 7, 2021. Edward was born on October 16, 1927 in Three Oaks, Texas. Edward attended Three Oaks School. After spending his entire life on the family farm, he enlisted in the United States Army on October 1, 1950. Edward married Frances Chudej in Kaufmann, Texas on October 10, 1953. Edward and Frances began their married life in Dallas with Edward working in a machine shop. He soon realized that city life was not for him, so Edward and Frances returned to the family farm in Three Oaks. Edward began his career as a farmer in December of 1953. In the late 1950's Edward launched his egg business, Hosek Egg Farm, which flourished for the next 40 years. He enjoyed talking to his customers at restaurants, nursing homes, schools, convenience stores and grocery stores. He especially enjoyed telling jokes to anyone that would listen. Edward was a member of the Poth VFW Post 8555 and a lifetime member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Poth. He served on the Poth School Board for 16 years. He also served as director of the Farmer's Gin and as a member of the Three Oaks Water Board. In 1976 Edward was named Conservationist of the Year by the Texas Conservation Awards Program. Edward enjoyed salt water fishing, making wine, and gardening. He enjoyed playing dominoes with friends, playing softball for the Three Oaks Rattlers, and watching baseball on TV. Edward especially loved playing on the floor with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and riding the Kawasaki mule to check cattle. Edward was known as the "Eggman." He was affectionately called Peppo by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He even acquired the name "K.K." which stood for Kaptain Kool. Edward loved to dance. During his younger years you would find him and Frances at the Martinez Social Club in San Antonio every Saturday night enjoying his Czech polkas and waltzes. He was most proud of the three dance trophies he won. Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Frances. His children are Gerry (LeAnn), Nancy, Carl (Peggy), Glenn, Kenneth (Carol), and Rose (Gordon) Labus. His grandchildren are Jonathan Hosek (Elizabeth), Justin Hosek (Kristina), Jerilee Laughlin (Gary), Jordan Hosek (Tracy), Harmony Doege (Terry) Matthew Hosek, Haley Labus, Kaitlin Labus, Jared Labus, Jerrek Hosek, and Erynn Hosek. His great-grandchildren include Kylie Hosek, Trentyn Hosek, Kaleb Hosek, Kamryn Hosek, Teagyn Hosek, Tildyn Hosek, Tinley Hosek, Taylin Hosek, Troit Hosek, Terik Hosek, Drake Laughlin, Morgan Doege, and Renee Doege. His surviving siblings are brother Bill Hosek (Susie), brother Eugene Hosek; sister, Mary Rose Pell and numerous nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Annie Hosek; brothers, Charlie, Lee, and Melvin Hosek; and sisters, Lilly Magel, Bessie Green, and Adella Krebs. Pallbearers are his grandsons: Jonathan, Justin, Jordan, Matthew, and Jerrek Hosek and Jared Labus.
