Bobbie (Nelson) Okruhlik, 77, of Schulenburg, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity and resilience that will continue to inspire all. Born in Amarillo, Bobbie's early years were shaped by her father's service in the U.S. Army, which allowed her to experience life in various parts of the country, including North Carolina, Louisiana and several cities across Texas. It was when her family settled in Schulenburg during her high school years that Bobbie found the place she would call home for nearly 60 years. She married Daniel Okruhlik at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg, a love story that spanned more than five decades. Daniel passed away in 2021, but their bond remained strong in the hearts of their family. Together, Bobbie and Daniel raised four children: Michelle Reid, Michael Okruhlik, Tammy Edwards and Shannon Okruhlik. In their eyes, they had "four of the best kids," a sentiment that was echoed through their nine grandchildren. Her family brought immense joy and pride to Bobbie's life. She delighted in every one of their achievements, no matter how big or small. Her thoughtfulness and kindness, especially toward children, knew no bounds. An artist at heart, Bobbie had a gift for creating beauty. Whether she was painting, drawing or decorating cakes and cookies, her creativity was limitless. She had a way of turning the ordinary into something extraordinary, and her work brought joy to many. Bobbie loved deeply, cared selflessly, and gave the best of herself to everyone she met. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will miss her more than words can express. A memorial service was held on Friday, Aug. 23 at Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home in Schulenburg, with interment in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery. Bobbie was laid to rest beside her beloved Daniel.
