Son of Stanley & Dorothy (Kowalski) Molczyk. Married to Adeline Adnell Sawicki on 7-7-1962 at St. Francis Church at Ashton, NE. He was employed at Union Pacific Railroad as a carman for 45 years from Sept. 19, 1945, until retiring Sept. 30, 1990. Raymond Molczyk Obituary Raymond L. Molczyk, 78, of Grand Island died Monday, June 2, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. MaryÕs Cathedral, with the Rev. Richard L. Piontkowski officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Kleine Funeral Home, with family present and a rosary at 7. Mr. Molczyk was born Sept. 3, 1929, at Spalding to Stanley and Dorothy (Kowalski) Molczyk. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald 'Ronnie J.' Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Adeline; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Pamela and Larry Cowell, Gail Molczyk, Judy and Jimmy Uden and Rhonda Brown, all of Grand Island; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Rosemary Zelasney and Lorraine and Melvin Obershulte. Raymond is also survived by nine grandchildren, Brandon Holder and Amanda Schott, Jessica Holder, Justin and wife, Christina Holder, Amber and husband, Eric Edwards, Chris Cowell, Jeremy Cowell, Nathan Brown, Nicholas Brown and Bryan Brown; seven great-grandchildren, Damien, Kya, Kaden, Kenzi, Emilie, Alexa and Aiden; and many nieces and nephews. Raymond was also preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Dorothy; two brothers, Clem and George; brother-in-law, Alvin Zelasney; and sister-in-law, Alice Molczyk. Raymond married Adeline Adnell Sawicki on July 7, 1962, at St. Francis Church in Ashton. He was employed at Union Pacific Railroad as a carman for 45 years from Sept. 19, 1945, until retiring Sept. 30, 1990. He was a member of the National Guard in the 1950s. He was also a police officer and sergeant on the Grand Island Police Dept. in the 1970s. After his retirement from the railroad, he was employed as a security guard for Fonner Park and Husker Harvest Days. He enjoyed camping and fishing in his younger years. He was a member of the Platt-Duetsche and enjoyed watching baseball at the Platt-Duetsche and watching football on TV. Raymond also enjoyed getting together with his friends and family occasionally for an afternoon beer, and playing the accordion and banjo.
