Bio

Services for Derald John Zimmer, 56, of Mission, Texas, formerly of Alta and Storm Lake, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Jan. 12 in the Mary Hill Visitation Church, rural Cherokee. The Rev. Gene Sitzmann and the Rev. Dale George will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Zimmer died Jan. 9, 1983 in a hospital in Mission after a lengthy illness. He was born Jan 23,1926, to Joseph and Rose Zimmer in Cherokee. Zimmer married Alice Meylor Aug. 12, 1947, at Marcus. He served in U.S. Air Force from 1951 until 1952. He worked as a meatcutter at the Hygrade Packing plant in Storm Lake for many years. He had lived at Mission for the last six years, previous to that in Alta and Storm Lake. Preceding him in death were his father and two infant brothers. Survivors include his wife; his mother, Mrs. Rose Zimmer of Storm Lake, and one sister, Mrs. Sylvester (Dorothy) Schroeder of Alta.
