Cherokee Daily Times: Feb. 19, 1953: Page 8 Joseph Francis Zimmer, 56, died at 11:30 a. m. February 18 at the home of his mother, Mrs. Pete Zimmer, 811 West Cedar. Mr. Zimmer succumbed after a lingering illness. The deceased had lived in Cherokee County his entire life, and attended school in the Maryhill community. He had farmed in that region and was a member of the Visitation Church at Maryhill. Mr. Zimmer was preceded in death by his father and two infant sons. He is survived by his wife, his mother, a son and daughter. The son is Derold Zimmer of Storm Lake and his daughter is Mrs. S. E. Schroeder of Arcadia. Mr. Zimmer is also survived by a brother. John Zimmer of Cherokee; a sister. Mrs. Harold Peck. Cherokee, and a grandson, Larry Joe Schroeder. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a. m. Saturday from Visitation Church at Maryhill. Rev. Bernard Kocher will officiate. Rosary service will be at 8 p. m Thursday and 8:30 p. m. Friday at Greenwood-Whitlatch Funeral home. Burial is to be in Maryhill cemetery.
