Margaret Zima, 94, of David City, died Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the Homestead in LaVista. Mass of Christian Burial Friday, May 24, 2024, 10:00 A.M. St. Mary's Catholic Church, David City Rev. Brian Connor, Celebrant Visitation Thursday 4- 6 P.M. with 6 P. M. Rosary at Kracl Funeral Chapel, DC Visitation Friday one hour prior to Mass, at the church Committal in the David City Cemetery Memorials in care of the family Dinner at the David City Auditorium immediately following the committal Margaret was born on Christmas Day, 1929, in Shelby to EJ and Louise (Gonderinger) Krumbach. She graduated from Shelby High School at the age of 17, attended Normal Training and taught country school for a few years. She then worked at B-D in Columbus. On December 2, 1967, she married Donald Zima at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shelby. They made their home west of David City and farmed near Abie and Linwood. They moved to town in 2000 and Margaret lived there until her health failed in 2018 when she moved to be closer to her daughters. She was very patriotic and always attended the Memorial Day Programs in David City and Shelby. Margaret loved sports, especially following the Huskers and Kansas City baseball teams. She and Don were great supporters of Legion baseball, even though they had no boys. She was a member of St. Mary's Guild and worked on many funeral dinners. Her family loved all her cooking and baking, chocolate chip cookies, pumpkin rolls and chocolate cake rolls, better known as "Giant Ho Hos". Margaret is survived by her two daughters; Joan (Scott) Leu of Ralston and Donna Zima of Grand Island, three grandchildren, Abbi, Conner and Caitlin Zima and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don in 2009, siblings; Vic and Wilma Krumbach, Irene and Ted Pandorf, Francis and Aliene Krumbach, John and Jean Krumbach, Mary and Hank Kula, Albert and Norma Krumbach, in- laws Adrian and Marlene Zima, nieces Jeannie Burkett, Pat Yochum and nephews David Krumbach and Bruce Pandorf.
