Clair H. Wilson, 87 of rural Chapman, died Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Tiffany Square. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM Friday, May 24th at Messiah Lutheran Church at 7th and Locust Streets. Reverend Steven Peeler will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Clair was born on December 2, 1936 in Murdo, South Dakota to Hal and Lila Wilson. He moved with his family to Wood River where he spent his childhood and attended Wood River Public Schools. Clair married Rita Skibinski of Grand Island on June 16, 1954. From this union, they were blessed with three daughters. Together, Clair and Rita purchased houses and remodeled them into rental properties and built two homes in rural Chapman area before her passing in 2001. Clair was employed for several years at New Holland after which they owned and operated Wilson Sanitation in Grand Island. He later farmed and raised Black Angus cattle in the Palmer area. Clair was a man of many talents and enjoyed creating projects such as unique flower holders and a cement bridge for his daughter. He married Judy Eckmann Witt on August 19, 2002. They spent several winters in Mesa, Arizona in their motorhome and also traveled to Pennsylvania so Clair could have breakfast with his New Holland friends. He is survived by his wife, Judy; three daughters, Beverly Dutra of California, Cathy (Chuck) Meyer of St. Libory and Judy (Brent) Meyer of Kearney; sisters, Ellen Frost of St. Paul, MN, Phyllis (Bill) Hill of Florida and Yvonne Davis of Florida; stepson, Ryan (Whitney) Witt of Grand Island; nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, a great-great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Rita; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Stanley (Della), Hal (Marianne) and Bobby; stepson, Joel Witt, great-grandson, Kobe Meyer and nephew, Todd Davis.
