Evelyn Marie Kimminau (Skalka), 88, of Lincoln, Nebraska passed away Friday June 8, 2018 at Holmes Lake Manor. Evelyn was born August 3, 1929, in Spring Ranch, Nebraska. She was the daughter of the late Emil and Caroline Skalka. Evelyn was a kind-hearted woman; loving, supportive wife and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a talented homemaker who enjoyed baking, playing the accordion, dancing, needlepointing, and babysitting her grandchildren. She was an active member of the South Central Czech Society in Hastings, the Altar Society of North American Martyrs and Capital City Czech Choraliers in Lincoln. She was the love of her late husband, Leo, of 65 years. She is survived by their children: Gary Kimminau and his wife Beth of Lincoln, NE, Carolyn Romohr and husband Monte of Gresham, NE, Donald Kimminau of Tampa, FL and Kathy Higgins and husband Jim of O'Fallon, MO; 6 grandchildren: Erica Romohr of Omaha, NE, Philip Romohr of Apex, NC, Tracy Barkmeier of Lincoln, NE, Tara Kimminau of Lincoln, NE, and Lucas and Lauren Higgins of O'Fallon, MO; 3 great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Nathan, and Lizzy Romohr of Apex, NC. She is also survived by her only sister Velma Hajny of Hastings, NE, sister-in-law Agnes Britten of Superior, NE and many nieces and nephews. Services were held Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at North American Martyrs Catholic Church, 1101 Isaac Drive, Lincoln, NE. Rosary at 10:00 am, Greeting the family at 10:15 am, Funeral Mass at 11:00 am, and luncheon to follow. Memorials will be directed by the family.
